Minne haluaisin nyt mennä?/ where would I like to travel now?

Moi! Ystäväni Sanna ja sen avustaja kävi kylässä viime keskiviikkona. Juteltiin tietysti enimmäkseen matkailusta, kun ollaan innokkaita reissaajia. Ystävän avustaja sitten kysyi, ois kiva tietää minne sä haluaisit mennä, nyt tai joskus? No kohteita riittää. Odotan tietysti elokuussa olevaa Välimeren risteilyä, joskus menen varmaan myös Karibian risteilylle. Jos ois enemmän rahaa, menisin toukokuussa Sannan vetämälle Toscanan-matkalle. Sinne palaan vielä.
 Kun Sanna puhui Palmuasemalla ikävästään Teneriffalle, täytyy sanoa, että ihan sama tilanne ollut jo jonkun aikaa.

Hey! My friend Sanna and her assistant visited me last Wednesday. Naturally we talked mostly about traveling as we both are keen travelers. Well her assistant wanted to know where would I like to travel now or someday? Well there are plenty of destinations. Of I'm looking forward to the Mediterranean cruise in August. One day I'll  go to the Caribbean cruise too. If I had more money, I'd go to the Tuscany trip, guided by Sanna. One day I'll return there. When Sanna talked about her longing to Tenerife in palmuasema, I must admit I've had the same for quite some time now.

Aurinko ja lämpö, kiireettömyys, hyvä ruoka, syitä on monia. Ja tietysti retki Teidelle,tulivuorelle.

It's due to sun, warmth, leisurely, tasty food and many other reasons but most importantly the trip to the volcano in Teide.

Myös palvelu pelaa, ihmiset ovat ystävällisiä. Esteettömyys on huomioitu todella hyvin.
Esteettömiä hotelleja ovat mm. Mar y sol ja Parque Cristobal, molemmat on ihania. Mar y solin uima-altaan vesi on lämpimämpää, n. 30-asteista.

Costumer service is very good there, the people are friendly. They have taken accessibility into consideration really well. The accessible hotels include Mar y Sol and Parque Cristobal. Both of them are lovely. The water of the pool is warmer in Mar y Sol, about 30°.

Tiedän jo nyt, että haluaisin marraskuussakin jonnekin lämpimään, Teneriffa ois kiva. Rahat vaan ei välttämättä riitä. Ärsyttävää!!! Firenzessäkin olis kiva yöpyä joskus. Seattleenki voisin mennä siskon perhettä kattoon.

I already know that I'd like to go somewhere warm in November. Tenerife would be nice but I might not have enough money. Annoying!! Someday I'd like to stay over night in Florence. I could also go to Seattle, to meet my sister's family.

Moi! Varasin tänään Välimeren risteilyn Matka-Agenteilta. Virallisesti varaus tulee voimaan huomenna, kun toimisto aukeaa, ihanaa! Oli tarkotus lähteä jo Royal Caribbeanin uuden
Harmony of the Seas-laivan neitsytristeilylle toukokuussa. Tällöin koko matka olisi pitänyt maksaa
jo maaliskuun puoleenväliin mennessä. Se olisi tullut liian kalliiksi.

Hi! I booked a cruise to the Mediterranean from Matka-Agentit. It'll become valid when their office opens, fantastic! I meant to go on the maiden trip of the Harmony of the Seas by the Royal Caribbean in May. Thus, I would've had to pay the trip in total by mid-March. It would've been way too expensive.   

Lähden elokuussa Jewel of the seas nimiselle laivalle. En löytänyt Royal Caribbeanin sivuilta rakennusvuotta, mutta laiva on muutaman vuoden vanhempi kuin Oasis ja Allure of the seas ovat.
Siinä on 13 kantta ja sinne mahtuu 2500 matkustajaa.

On August I'm going on a cruise with a ship called Jewel of the sea. I didn't find the year it was build from the Royal Caribbean website but the ship is a few years older than the Oasis ja Allure of the seas are. It has 13 decks and can host 2500 passengers.

Laiva lähtee Roomasta 7.8. ja käy ainakin Haniassa, Napolissa ja Turkin Kusadasissa.
Tekemistä on paljon koko ajan, meripäivinäkään aika ei tule pitkäksi. Laivalta löytyy kolme uima-allasta ja kolme poreallasta, baareja ja ravintoloita, kuntosali, pelihalli, elokuvateatteri jne..
Ja on mukavaa, että ruokailut kuuluvat risteilyn hintaan, muutamaa erikoisravintolaa
lukuunottamatta.

¨The ship embarks from Rome on Aug. 7th and will go to Chania, Naples and Kuşadası, Turkey.
There's a lot to do all the time, even on the sea days I wont be bored. The ship has three pools, three Jacuzzis, bars and restaurants, a gym, an arcade, movie theater etc. It's nice to know that the dining is included in the prize, apart from a few special restaurants.
       

Mistä varasin risteilypaketin, mitä siihen sisältyy ja mitä se maksaa?/ Where did I book it? What's included and what's the cost?

Otin yhteyttä Matka-agentteihin ja kyselin risteilytarjouksia ajankohdalle 7-17.8. Tämä Roomasta lähtevä risteily lentoineen maksoi noin 1460 euroa per henkilö eli suunnilleen 2900 kahdelle. Lisäkuluja tulee vielä invataksikuljetuksista lentokentältä satamaan ja takasin, invataksin hinta 250 euroa per suunta.  Tämä tietysti harmittaa minua, opiskelijana ja eläkkeensaajana olen pienituloinen.

I contacted  Matka-agentit and made inquiries about cruise offers between Aug. 7th to 17th. This cruise, embarking from Rome, costed circa 1460 euros per person, so about 2900 euros for two including flights. There are some extra costs from the accessible cab rides from the harbor to the hotel and back, the price for the cab was 250 euros one way. Naturally this saddens me cause as a student and pensioner my income is small.  

Lentokentät ovat usein kaukana satamista,joten vammaisen matkustajan on yleensä mentävä satamaan taksilla. Tästä kyydistä ei oikein voi säästää.

The airport are usually located far from the harbor so disabled passenger generally has to take a cab.

Jaan kuitenkin omat säästövinkkini nyt teille./ However,now I'm going to share my saving tips with you.

 1.Risteilyihin sisältyvä täysihoito auttaa kustannusten hillinnässä, ruoat kuuluvat matkan hintaan. Välimeren risteilyt ovat ainakin nyt hiukan halvempia kuin Karibian risteilyt.

1. A all inclusive cruise helps in controlling the costs, as dining is also included. At the moment at least the Mediterranean cruises are slightly cheaper than the Caribbean ones.  

2.Kannattaa myös miettiä, meneekö uusimmalla vai vähän vanhemmalla laivalla, uusin laiva on usein myös kallein. Vanhemmat laivat ovat aivan yhtä hyviä. Sisähytti on parvekehyttiä halvempi.

2. It's also worth to consider whether to pick an older or a newer ship. The newest is usually the most expensive. The older boats are just as good. A cabin inside is cheaper than one with a balcony.  

3. Tässä matkapaketissa on sekin etu, että ehdin lennolta laivaan saman päivän aikana. En tarvitse hotelliyöpymistä ennen risteilyä.

3. This travel package has the advantage that I'll make it from the flight to the ship on the same day. I wont need to stay at a hotel before the cruise. 

4. Harkitse, onko juomapaketti tarpeellinen. Sitä ei kannata ostaa muutaman ruokaviinin tai -siiderin takia. - Et sä sitä tartte, jos et oo lähdössä ryyppäämään, ystäväni sanoi.

4. Consider, whether the drink package is necessary. It's not if you're only gonna get few wines or ciders with meals. As a friend of mine said, you wont need it unless you intend to drink heavily.  


5. Jos menet Karibialle, valitse lähtöpaikaksi mielummin Fort Lauderdale kuin New York. Matka-agenttien mukaan New Yorkista lähtevät risteilyt ovat kalleimpia.

5. If you're going to the Caribbean, rather embark from Fort Lauderdale than New York. According to Matka-agentit, the cruises embarking from New York are the most expensive.    

Matkailuillasta Tukholmaan/ from travel night to Stockholm

Moro! Viime tiistai-ilta oli mahtava, menin uinnista suoraan esteettömän matkailun iltaan. Se pidettiin Matka-agenttien toimistolla Helsingissä. Ensin nautimme iltapalaa, herkullisia salaatteja ja patonkia. Sitten kuunneltiin illan esiintyjien alustuksia. Mukana olivat Royal Caribbean, Tallinksilja, Norwegian ja tietysti Matka-agentit. Oli mielenkiintoista! Ainoa mikä hiukan harmittaa, on huono arpaonni ja se, että aika loppuu aina kesken.

Hey! Last Thursday was amazing as I went to accessible traveling night held at the office of Matka-agentit in Helsinki. First we had some evening snacks, delicious salads and baguette. Then we listened to introductions by the presenters of the night. They included Royal Caribbean, Tallink Silja, Norwegian and naturally Matka-agentit. It was interesting! The only thing I was a bit annoyed about was my bad luck in the raffle and that we always run out of time.


Perjantai jatkui matkailuteemalla, lähdin Päivä Tukholmassa-risteilylle. Laivaan ehtiminen jäi vähän tipalle, kun en ensin löytänyt Soilea Kampista.  Ajoimme taksin kanssa Forumin eteen ja sieltä onneksi löysimme Soilen.
Ehdimme  laivalle ja näimme saapuessamme Muumipeikon ja Pikku Myyn.

Friday continued the travel theme, as I went on a day cruise in Stockholm. Making it to the ship was a bit tight cause I didn't find Soile from Kamppi. We drove in front of Forum with my taxi and luckily I found her from there. We arrived to the ship just in time and on arrival we saw moomin troll and Little My.

 Menin ensin syömään. Lohipatee ja paistettu kuha oli molemmat tosi hyviä. Illalla kuuntelimme musiikkia baarissa ja otimme yömyssyt hytissä.

First I had something to eat. The salmon patee and fried pike-perch were both very good. In the evening we listened to music at the bar and had nightcap at the cabin.

Lauantaiaamuna koittikin vaativa tehtävä, kun tilasin invataksin ruotsiksi. Soile ei osaa ruotsia, hoidin homman yksin. Ensin tuntui, etten osaa mitään. Loppuvaiheessa puhuin vähän englantia.  Tukholmassa on paljon matalalattiabusseja, mutta ajan säästämiseksi päätimme nyt käyttää taksia, olimmehan vain päiväristeilyllä.  Kuski oli todella ystävällinen. Vihdoinkin haaveeni Abba-museosta toteutui, kannatti mennä! Museo oli huikea, parasta oli toiminnallisuus ja runsaus, Abbaan liittyviä tavaroita oli paljon.

On Saturday I had the demanding task of ordering a cab in swedish, as Soile doesn't speak any Swedish so I took care of it. First I felt like I don't know anything, towards the end I spoke a little English. There's a lot of low floored busses in Stockholm but to save time we decided to take a cab cause We were only there for a day. The driver was real friendly and my dream of visiting the Abba museum finally came true, It was so worth it! The museum was magnificent. The functionality and abundance were the best.

 Lauloin karaokea esteettömällä lavalla, sinne oli tehty ramppi. Katsoin Abban tarinan elokuvana ja myös tanssin. Lumouduin täysin

I sang karaoke on the accessible ship as there was a ramp. I watched Abba's story as a film as well as danced. I was completely mesmerized.

 Myös Abban kitaroita esiteltiin ja punainen puhelinkin oli jännittävä. Jos se soi, kannattaa vastata. Joku Abban jäsen saattaa soittaa. Minun aikanani se ei soinut.

Their guitars were also on display and the red phone was exciting as well. If it rings, it's worth it to answer as one of the band members might be on the other end. It didn't ring during my visit.

Museokäynti oli risteilyni kohokohta. Olin viisi tuntia enkä pitkästynyt. Liput maksoivat 150-250 kruunua, mutta paikka on hintansa väärti, suosittelen! Avustaja pääsee ilmaiseksi.



The museum visit was the highlight of my cruise. I spent five hours there and wasn't bored. The entry costed between 150 to 250 Kronor but it was worth every penny. I recommend it! Assistants get free entry.



 

Risteilyjärkkäilyä ja pohdintaa../ Cruise arrangements and pondering...

            Moikka taas!/ Hi again!

      Olen todennäköisesti lähdössä reissuun Royal Caribbeanin uudella Harmony of the Seasilla.
      Sen vuoksi todennäköisesti, että kuljen lentokentältä satamaan invataksilla, jonka hintaa
       selvitellään vielä. Neitsytristeily lähtee Southamptonista 22.5. Sen jälkeen on yksi meripäivä,
       sitten vierailemme Rotterdamissa Hollannissa. Risteilykeskuksen www-sivujen mukaan se on
       Euroopan vilkkain satamakaupunki. Kuulostaa mielenkiintoiselta! Ja onhan jo itse laivakin
       näkemisen ja kokemisen arvoinen. Se on yhdeksän kertaa suurempi kuin ruotsinlaiva.
       Sieltä löytyy  mm. täysin esteetön karuselli, robottibaarimikko, lukuisia baareja ja ravintoloita,
      kylpylä, elokuvateatteri jne. En varmaan ehdikään kaikkea tekemään. Odotan innolla!
      Esteettömään karuselliin voin ajaa sähkärillä, minua ei siis tarvitse nostaa siihen.
      Hyvät uinti-ja liikuntamahdollisuudet ovat myös plussaa.

I'm most likely going on a cruise to Harmony of the Seas of the  Royal Caribbean. I say most likely cause i'm going to take a cab from the airport to the harbor, I'm still figuring the price of it. The cruise embarks from Southampton May 22nd. After which we have one day at sea, then we're visiting Rotterdam, Netherlands. According to the web page of the cruise center, it's the busiest port in Europe. Sounds interesting! Besides, the boat itself is worth seeing and experiencing. It's nine times larger than the boat to Sweden. It has accessible carousel, a robot bartender, several bars and restaurants, a spa, a movie theater etc. I wont probably even have enough time to do everything. I'm looking forward to it! I can drive my electric wheelchair into the carousel so I wont have to be lifted in. Good swim and exercise possibilities are a plus as well.       

  Ensi viikonloppuna lähden kuitenkin käymään Tukholman Abba-museossa. Olisipa mahtavaa
 päästä vielä joskus Abban keikalle! Bändi hajosi 1982, vuotta ennen syntymääni.
 Paluukeikkaa on yritetty järjestää,mutta bändin jäsenet eivät ole suostuneet.
Sääli, koska eihän ikä estä keikkailua, jos on hyvässä kunnossa.
Haluaisin kyllä joskus yöpyäkin Tukholmassa, voitte suositella hotelleja.

Next weekend however, I'm going to visit the Abba museum in Stockholm. It would be awesome to take part in an Abba gig one day! The band broke up on 1982, a year before I was born. There has been some efforts towards arranging a comeback gig but the members haven't agreed. It's a shame as a high age doesn't prevent going to gigs if they're fit enough. One day I'd like to stay over night in Stockholm as well, I gladly accept hotel recommendations.
