Päiväristeily Eckerö Linellä/ Day cruise on Eckerö Line

  Moi taas!  Heti Teneriffan-matkan jälkeen tuntui, että jonnekin piti päästä.
 Reissu oli senverran kallis, ettei ollut heti varaa lähteä kovin kauas. Hinta n.1100 e/hlö, lentoineen ja majoituksineen. Ruokailut maksoimme erikseen.  No syksyllä lehtimyyjä soitti ja sai minut ylipuhuttua Kauneus ja Terveys- lehden määräaikaistilaajaksi. A-lehdet antoi tilaajalahjaksi Eckerö Linen lahjakortin. Kuulin että ystäväni Mervi oli menossa Eckerö Linen päiväristeilylle Tallinnaan parin yhteisen ystävämme kanssa. Olimme tutustuneet kesäkuussa Tukholman-risteilyllä, josta aiemmin täällä kerroin. Päiväristeilyidea kuulosti kivalta. En ollut käynyt Tallinnassa maissa ollenkaan. Myös vanhankaupungin joulumarkkinat houkuttivat. Olin jo lukenut Wienin markkinoista mm. Palmuasemalta, mutta reissu siirtyi tuonnemmaksi kalleuden vuoksi. Soile lupautui avustajaksi.

Hi again!

Straight after Tenerife I felt like I had to go somewhere. The trip had been of the price that I couldn't go anywhere far. The price had been 1100 e per person including flights and accommodation. We paid for dining apart. Well, on autumn a telemarketer called and persuaded me to order the Kauneus ja Terveys magazine. The A-magazines were giving out a voucher for Eckerö Line as a gift. I found out that my friend Mervi was going to the day cruise with a couple of our mutual friends. We got to know each other on our previous Stockholm cruise in June, which I mentioned before. The idea sounded like fun as I had never gone to shore in Tallinn. I was also intrigued by the Christmas market of the old town. I had already read about the market in Wien from Palmuasema but I wasn't able to go cause it was too expensive. Soile agreed come with as my assistant.          

Sunnuntaina 29.11. olimme Länsiterminaalissa jo ennen aamukahdeksaa. Lähtöselvitys sujui nopeasti ja pian olimme jo laivassa. Menimme ensin johonkin baariin kuuntelemaan musiikkia ja sitten aamupalalle. Laiva keinui aika paljon. Siljaan ja Viikingin laivoihin verrattuna se oli pienempi ja arkisempi sisustuksensa suhteen. Suurin osa vessoista oli pieniä.  Kahdeksannelta kannelta löysimme invavessan, jonne mahduin sähkärillä. No laivan arkisuus eivät paljoa haitanneet, koska laiva lähti jo 8.30 ja oli jo kl 11 Tallinnassa. Alkuun kiertelimme kauppoja Tallinnan satamassa olevassa ostoksessa. Pian löysimmekin mukavan huivikaupan, josta ostimme kaikki eriväriset huivit. Viinakaupasta ostin yhden Breezerin.

On Sunday November 29th, we were at the terminal already before 8 am. The check-in was quick and soon we were on board. At first we went to some bar to listen to some music and then to have breakfast. The ferry swayed quite a lot. In comparison to Silja and viking line ships, it was smaller and more everyday. Most of the the toilets were small but from deck 8 we found an accessible toilet, to which I could fit with my wheelchair. Well, the everyday of the ferry didn't not really matter cause the boat left at 8.30 and arrived to Tallinn at 11 am. At the beginning we roamed around the shopping center at the harbor. Soon we found a nice scarf store, from which we all bought different color scarfs. I also bought a Breezer from a liquor store.          

Senjälkeen menimme syömään Lidoon, se on buffet-tyyppinen edullinen ravintola. Ruoan hinta määräytyy annoksen painon mukaan. Tarjolla on laaja valikoima salaatteja sekä kasvis-, liha-ja kalaruokia. Jälkiruokavalikoimaakin riittää. Annokset ovat isoja, lautanen menee helposti ihan täyteen.www.lido.ee,  suosittelen!
Jos ei jaksa syödä paljon, kannattaa sanoa siitä keittäjälle joka annostelee ruuan.

After that we went to eat in Lidoon, it's a buffet-type, affordable restaurant, where the price depends on the weight of the portion. They offer a wide range of salads, along with veggie, meat and fish food. The portions are big and the plate is easily full. www.lido.ee, I recommend it! If you don't usually eat much it's worth mentioning it to the lady who deals the portions.










































Ruokailun jälkeen menin toisen ystäväni kanssa Vanhaankaupunkiin, Mervi ja Jenna jäivät korukauppaan. Vanhankaupungin joulumarkkinoilla oli hieno kuusi ja yleistunnelma. Mukulakivien ja korkeiden katukynnysten vuoksi se ei kuitenkaan ole kovin esteetön, liikkuminen sähkärillä on hankalaa. Kaikenkaikkiaan päiväristeily oli oikein mukava, synttäreille tai muuhun juhlintaan suosittelen Siljan laivoja tai Baltic Queenia.

After I had finished eating, I went to the old town with another friend of mine. Mervi and Jenna stayed at the jewellery store. The Christmas market had a beautiful Christmas tree and a nice general atmosphere. Due to cobblestones and high paving not so accessible. moving around with an electric wheelchair was complex. All and all the day cruise was very nice. However, to those who like partying I recommend Silja's ships or Baltic Queen.        



           

Miksi matkustan?/ Why do I travel?

  Aika monissa matkablogeissa on ollut viime aikoina puhetta aiheesta. Hyvä kysymys.  Vastaus ei ehkä olekaan yksiselitteinen, mutta yksi tekijä on se, että olen matkustanut  pienestä pitäen. Olin jo 5-vuotiaana vanhempieni kanssa Rhodoksella. Seuraavaksi juhlimme mummini synttäreitä Espanjassa ja vaarin Turkissa. Noista matkoista kipinä syttyi, ja into maailman näkemiseen kasvoi, vaikken erityisiä kohokohtia niistä muistakaan. Julkaisen kuvia niistä mahdollisesti myöhemmin. Ja se ihana lomafiilis! Vaikka lähtiessä tulisikin kiire, taksimatka lentokentälle on erilainen kuin muut matkat. Se ihana odottava tunnelma! Kohta alkaa uusi seikkailu, mitäköhän kaikkea kivaa tapahtuu? Lentokentällä shoppailu ja hyvä palvelu virittävät oikeaan fiilikseen. Viimeksi ostin lentokentän kaupasta Body Shopin persikkaisen vartalovoiteen ja jonkun suklaarasian, joita sai kaksi vitosella. Lomalla on lupa shoppailla ja panna elämä risaiseksi.

Pretty many traveling blogs have touched upon the topic. That's a good question. The answer might not be so straight forward, but one factor is that I've been traveling from a very young age. 5 years old I traveled to Rhodes with my parents. Then we celebrated my granny's birthday in Spain and my grandpa's in Turkey. Those trips gave me the spark and my will to see the world grew, though I don't remember any particular highlight from them. I might put up some photos from them later. Plus, the lovely holiday feeling! Though the departure would be hurried, the taxi ride to the airport differs from the others. That amazing feeling of expectation! A new adventure is about to start, what's going to happen? Shopping at the airport and good costumer service set you up in the right mood. Last time I bought a peach scented body lotion from the airport's Body Shop, as well as 2 boxes of chocolates with five euros.While on holiday, you're allowed to shop and revel a little.        


 Matkailu on lomaa byrokratiasta, opiskelusta ja arjen rutiineista. Ja sitä minä kaipaan oikeasti. On ihanaa palata tuttuihin paikkoihin ja nähdä uusia maisemia. On ihanaa päästä irti arjesta ja kokea elämyksiä. Ne auttavat jaksamaan arjessa. Lomalla saa myös herkutella, kunhan palaa kotona ruotuun. Loma on ihmisen parasta aikaa!

Traveling's holiday away from bureaucracy, studying and daily routines. I really do need that. It's lovely to return to old places and see new landscapes. It's fantastic to let go of the routines and to experience. It's also okay to treat yourself as long as you get back in line at home. A holiday is man's best time!

 Nyt joku ehkä ajattelee, että elämä ei voi olla pelkkää juhlimista. Ei
 voikaan, mutta välillä on hyvä päästä pois laskujen ja kouluhommien
 parista. Ja kyllä matkailu mielestäni aiheuttaa tietynlaista riippuvuuttakin, into kasvaa ja matkakuume pahenee.Vaikka Teneriffalta paluusta on vasta kuukausi, haluaisin jo nyt varata
uuden matkan Nykyään tuntuu, ettei viikko oikein riitä. Paluu arkeen ärsyttää ja  kestää kauemmin.

At this point, some of you will probably think that life can't be all fun and games and you're right, but sometimes it's good to get away from bills and school. In my opinion, traveling causes kind of an addiction. enthusiasm grows and traveling fever worsens. Though it's been only a month since I got back from Tenerife i'd like to book a new trip already. These days it feels like a week isn't enough, getting back to the routines annoys and lasts longer.

Teneriffan parhaat puolet/ The best sides of Tenerife

         Miksi Teneriffa on niin hyvä lomakohde?/ Why is Tenerife such a good holiday location?

 Olen käynyt Teneriffalla kaksi kertaa, nyt 2015 ja 2011. Molemmat matkat olivat todella onnistuneita. Miksi näin on? Siihen on monia syitä. Mukavan lämmintä marraskuussakin.  Pimeän ajan aurinkoloma antaa valtavasti energiaa. Myös lentomatka on kohtuullinen,
 yleensä 6,5 tuntia. Tosin nyt menomatkaan meni 7 tuntia myrskytuulen vuoksi.

I've visited twice now, in 2011 and now 2015. Both of the trips were real successful. Why is this? There are many reasons. The weather there is warm even in November. During the dark period the sunny holiday gives tons of energy. Also the duration of the flight is reasonable, usually 6.5h, this time the trip there took 7h due storm winds.

Sekä Parque Cristobal että Mar Y Sol ovat loistavia hotelleja. Molemmat ovat esteettömiä ja viihtyisiä. Siivous pelasi erinomaisesti. Voisin olla niissä kuukauden. Parque Cristobalista löytyy myös pesukone. Sen käyttö oli kallista, mutta se osoittautui tarpeelliseksi. Molemmissa hotelleissa on myös ohjelmaa joka ilta. Ohjelma on koko perheelle sopivaa. Monissa baareissakin on musiikkia.

Both Parque Cristobal and Mar Y Sol are magnificent hotels. Both are accessible and cozy. House keeping was excellent. I could stay a month in them. Parque Cristobal has a washing machine as well. Using it was expensive but it turned out to be useful. Both hotels provide entertainment every night and it's suitable for all. Many of the bars have music.   

Kuten jo viime postauksessa kerroinkin, ruoka on ihanaa. Säätkin suosivat. Vaikka aamut olivatkin joskus pilvisiä, iltapäivällä paistoi jo aurinko.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the food was amazing. The weather was good as well. Though the mornings were cloudy at times, the sun would shine in the afternoon already.  

Jos pelkkä oleskelu kyllästyttää, teemapuistojakin löytyy. Esimerkikiksi Loro Parque-eläinpuisto, Aquapark-vesipuisto, Jungle park jne. En ole käynyt näissä, mutta tiedän, että ainakin Loro Parque on esteetön.

If just hanging around bores you then there are some theme parks available too. Such as Loro Parque-animal park, Aquapark-waterpark, Jungle park etc. I've not visited these but still I know that Loro Parque is accessible.

                        


 Myös merenranta on ihana. Sieltäkin löytyy monia baareja ja  kahviloita.
  Liikuttavin kokemus oli, kun näin kerjäläismiehen, jonka jalat olivat pahasti surkastuneet.
 Silloin ymmärsin olla kiitollinen siitä, mitä minulla on.
  Retkistä kiinnostavin oli meno Teide-tulivuorelle, mutta esteetön bussi sinne
 kulki vain  perjantaisin tai lauantaisin. Invataksikyyti olisi maksanut 130 euroa.

Retki jäi seuraavaan kertaan. Hinnassa oli rahastuksen makua, jäi vähän ikävä filis.
 Retkien kalleus olikin matkan ainoa huono puoli sähkärin hajoamisen lisäksi.

Also, the beach is lovely. There's plenty of bars and cafes there. The most touching moment was when I saw a beggar, whose feet where badly withered. Then I realized to be grateful of what I've got. The most interesting of the excursions would have been the trip to the volcano Teide but the accessible bus there went on Fridays and Saturdays only and a taxi there would have costed 130 e, so the trip had to be left for another time. The price felt like a cash in and I felt a bit bad about it. The fact that the excursion were so expensive and that my chair broke down were the only down side of the trip. Oh well, next time. I'd also like to visit the Teralava center, next to Mar Y Sol and have a treatment or a massage.

Teneriffa osa 3: ruokailut/ Tenerife part 3: dining

Moi! Tässä jutussa kerron ruokailuista Teneriffalla. Matkapakettini hintaan ei niitä  kuulunut.
Päätimme Tuulan kanssa  niin, että teemme aamupalat ja lounaat itse, sillä tavalla
säästimme rahaa, vaikka sitä kuluikin ruokaan aika paljon. Hotellimme lähellä oli Dialprix -niminen marketti, jossa kävimme. Aamupala oli aika samantyyppinen kuin kotonakin, patonkia, juustoa, kananmunia jogurttia, joskus croissantia tai muroja. Lounaaksi teimme joko pastan tai risoton.
Huoneistossamme oli keittiö, jossa oli kaksi keittolevyä, niinpä ruuanlaitto onnistui.

Hi! In this entry I'll talk about our dining in Tenerife, as they Weren't part of my package. We decided to make the breakfasts and lunches ourselves, cause we saved some money, though quite a lot of it went to food. There was a store called Dialprix, which we used. The breakfast was much like it would be at home, baguettes, cheese, eggs, yogurt, sometimes croissants or cereal. At lunch we had either pasta or risotto. There was a kitchen in apartment, with two cooking plates so cooking was easy.      

Hintataso/ Price level

Ruokakaupoissa on huomattavasti halvempaa kuin Suomessa. Monia perusruokatarvikkeita sai 50-70 sentillä. Ja oluttakin sekä siideriä, kuten myös viiniä. Ravintolaruokakin oli hiukan halvempaa, jossain sai kolmen ruokalajin menun kympillä.

The grocery stores were significantly cheaper than in Finland. Many basic necessities cost only between 50-70 cents, as well as some beers, ciders and wines. Food in restaurants was a bit cheaper too, some places gave a three course meal costing 10 euros. 



Illallinen oli yksi päivän kohokohdista, ravintoloita Playa del Americaksessa riittää joka lähtöön. On Espanjalaista, kiinalaista, meksikolaista, thai-ravintolaa jne. Ruoka oli  tuoretta ja hyvää. Tirisevän kuuma lasagne tuotiin savipadassa, samoin tortillojen täytteet ja lisukkeet. Palvelukin pelasi, meitä tervehdittiin suomeksi ja ruokalistatkin olivat myös suomen kielellä.

Dinner was one highlight of the day. In Playa del America there's something for everyone. There's Spanish, Chinese, Mexican, Thai restaurant etc. The food was fresh and tasty. Boiling hot lasagne was brought to the table in a clay pan as were the tortilla fillings and side dishes. The service was fine as well, we were greeted in Finnish and the menus were in Finnish also.

                            shamppanjatkin.

Naturally there were some lovely ice-cream too and ones they offered us free champagne as well.
