Teneriffa, osa 2/ Tenerife, part 2

Moikka!/ hey!

Lupasin viime kerralla kertoa sähkärin hajoamisesta Teneriffalla. Selkänojahan hötkyi ja heilui jo
lentokentällä. Aamulla Tuula yritti ajaa sähkäriä lähemmäksi sänkyä nostaakseen mut siihen, se ei hievahtanutkaan. Akkuvalon vieressä näkyi vaan miinusviiva, tiesin että se pitäisi saada pois.
Laitoimme sähkärin vapaalle ja takaisin ajoasentoon. Ei auttanut, sammutus ja uudelleenkäynnistys.
Ei vaikutusta. Mitäs tehtäis? Onneksi joku mies, joka oli Matka-agenttien yhtetistyökumppani,toi varapyörätuolin. Minulla ei ollut manuaalipyörätuolia mukana. Hän antoi toimintaohjeet: -Viekää sähkäri Lero-apuvälinekeskukseen huoltoon.

Last time I promised to tell you about my wheelchair breaking down in Tenerife. The backrest was shaking at the airport already. In the morning tried to drive the chair closer to the bed, so she could lift me into it, but it didn't move an inch. Only a minus sign was visible on the battery light and I knew we had to get it away. We put the chair in released mode and then back to drive mode. Still nothing, switch off and restart. No use. What to do? Luckily, some guy, who was a business partner of matka-agentit, brought me a spare as I didn't have my manual wheelchair with me. He also instructed us to take the chair to the Lero aid equipment center for maintenance.     

No menimme taksilla Leroon, allekirjoitin huoltosopimuksen ja tuoli jäi sinne.
Iltapäivällä yksi työntekjöistä soitti ja sanoi, että toinen mekaanikko katsoo tuolia perjantaina.  Tuli perjantai, eikä Lerosta kuulunut mitään. Lauantaiaamunakaan asia ei edennyt, joten soitin itse Leroon iltapäivällä.Ehdin jo pelätä pahinta ja niinhän siinä kävi, ettei Lerossa pystytty korjaushommiin. He pahoittelivat kyllä, siinä kaikki.

So, we took a cab there, I signed a maintenance agreement and left the chair there. In the afternoon, one of the employees called and said that another mechanic will have a look at the chair on Friday. Well, Friday arrived and there was still no word from Lero. As I didn't hear anything on Saturday morning either I called them myself in the afternoon. I feared for the worst and that's exactly what happened, they were unable to fix the chair in Lero. They were very apologetic but that's all.        

Iltapäivällä menin uimaan piristyäkseni. Tuula kehotti ottamaan siiderin ketutukseen, sen teinkin ennen uintia. Uima-altaassa ei ollut muovituolia, vaan nosto-tai siirtoliina, joka laitettiin istuimen päälle, allasvalvoja laski sen veivillä alas.
Ennen uimista kävin ulkosuihkussa.Tein siinä vain pikahuuhtelun, uinnin jälkeen sitten kunnon pesun.

In the afternoon, I went for a swim to cheer up. Tuula advised me to have a cider to improve my mood, which I did before my swim. There was no plastic chair at the pool but a transfer sheet, which was placed under the seat and the pool supervisor hoisted it down with a crank. Before swimming I took a quick shower outside, and afterwards a thorough one.

                       Uima-altaan vettä ei oltu lämmitetty, se ei kuumuudessa haitannut./The water of the pool wasn't warmed but it was still okay cause of the heat.

                            Illalla nautimme makoisan päivällisen yhdessä Playa de las Americaksen monista
                           ravintoloista ja sitten menimme baariin kuuntelemaan musiikkia.
                              Tässä kuitenkin maistiaisena yksi ruokakuva.

In the evening we had a tasty dinner in one of the many restaurants of Playa de las America, after which we went to a bar to listen to some music. Here's one food photo as a treat. 

                          
                          

                               

Reissusta palattu, miten kaikki alkoi?/ Returned from the trip, how did it all start?

       Moikka taas!/ Hi again!

  Reissu meni hyvin ja nopeesti, kuten aina. 10 päivää hujahti kuin siivillä.
 Vähän haikeeta olla kotona. Ressu Redfordin laulussa sanotaan: joka kerta kun sä meet, on
 paluu aina vaikeampaa. Näin se on! Oli taas niin ihanaa.. Avustajana oli Tuula.

The trip went well and quickly, as always. 10 days just flew by. It's a bit melancholic to be at home. A song by Ressu Redford goes: every time you go, returning is more difficult. It's true! It was so wonderful again.. I had Tuula as my assistant.   

Kaikki onnistui, lukuunottamatta sähkärin hajoamista, palaan siihen myöhemmin.
Matka alkoi tiistaina 10.11. Olin kentällä n. 8.30. Lento lähti 10.40 ja meni tosi hyvin. Kiitos Norwegianille ja lentoasemalle, olette ammattilaisia.

Everything worked out, apart from my electric wheelchair breaking down. I'll get back to that later. The trip started on Tuesday November 10th. I arrived to the airport about 8.30 am. The flight left 10.40 and went really well. Thanks to the airport and Norwegian, you're professionals.   

Perillä Teneriffalla olimme viiden aikaan, myrskytuuli myöhästytti lentoa.
Odottelimme kyytiä noin vartin.  Espanjan aurinko helli meitä jo silloin!

Ihana rentous valtasi mielen, jo lentokentällä alkanut euforisen hyvä olo vain lisääntyi! Nyt ei ole kiire mihinkään. Tuula tosin huomasi, että saavuttuamme Teneriffalle sähkärin selkänoja hötkyi ja heilui, siitä puuttui neljä ruuvia. Kuulette lisää ensi kerralla!

We arrived to Tenerife at 5 pm, as the storm wind delayed the flight. We waited for our ride about fifteen minutes. The Spanish sun pampered us already then! Lovely state of relaxed took over, and the euphoric good feeling kept increasing! There was no hurry now. Though, as we arrived to Tenerife Tuula noticed that the back rest of my wheelchair was shaking, four screws were missing from it. more about that in my next post!

                                 Taksi ajoi tosi lujaa, turvavyöt oli löysemmät kuin Suomessa.
                                 Oli ihanaa päästä hotellille. Lähdimme aluksi katselemaan paikkoja.
                                 Meillä oli kahden makuuhuoneen esteetön huoneisto Parque
                                Cristobalissa.  Se oli viihtyisä ja siisti.

The taxi drove really fast and the seat belts were more loose than in Finland. It was lovely to get to the hotel. At first we went to have a look around. We had a two bedroom accessible apartment in Parque Cristobal. It was cozy and clean.

Ylihuomenna reissuun!/ The trip starts day after tomorrow!

                
       

Ylihuomenna tähän aikaan oon jo Teneriffan auringossa, mahtavaa!

 Tarpeeseen tauko tulee, loma hyvää tekee. On tässä kouluhommia jo tehtykin!

                   Nyt on aika irtautua arjesta ihan kunnolla. Aion mennä bussilla Teide-tulivuorelle, se on kuulemma upea! paljon uintia,aurinkoa ja hyvää ruokaa on myös luvassa! Jos ehdin, käyn lentokenttäkaupassakin.

By this time day after tomorrow I'll be in the sun of Tenerife, awesome! The break is needed, holiday is good. I've done plenty of school work as is! Now it's time to relax properly. I'm going to take a bus to the Teide volcano, I've heard it's magnificent! If I have time I'll visit the airport store too.        

                            Lämmintäkin pitäs olla, mitä olen tutuiltani kuullut, hienoa!/ The weather should be warm as well, which is brilliant!

Tampereelta kohti Teneriffaa/ From Tampere towards Tenerife

Moi! Teneriffan matka lähestyy, enää yhdeksän päivää lähtöön, ihanaa!

Aurinkorasva ostettu, lippiksiä löytyy, hellemekoista kaksi mahtuu päälle.  

Nyt  haluan kertoa  viime sunnuntaista. Silloin oli Metsolat-sarjan fanitapaaminen Tampereella. Järkkäsin tapaamisen ystäväni kanssa. Paikalla oli reilu 20 fania ja kuusi tekijää.

 Ensin toivotin kaikki tervetulleeksi. Tekijät kertoivat sarjan teosta ja vastailivat kysymyksiin.Paikkana oli Tampereen seudun Invalidien kerhohuone, osoite on Kuninkaankatu 36 b, Tampere.

Hi! The trip Tenerife is getting closer, only 9 days to departure, awesome! I've bought the sun lotion, I've got plenty of caps and two of my summer dresses fit. Now I'd like to tell you about last Sunday. We had a fan gathering of the TV program Metsolat in Tampere. I arranged it with a friend of mine. There were about 20 fans and six participants from the show, they told us about the making of the program and answered the questions of the fans. The meeting was held at the club room of the invalid association at Kuninkaankatu 36 b, Tampere.

 Tunnelma tapaamisessa oli todella lämmin.  On aina ihanaa tavata samanhenkisiä ihmisiä. Monet paikallaolevista faneista olivat katsoneet Metsoloita jo pikkulapsina.
Itse aloitin 11-12- vuotiaana. Katsoin jakson tai pari, olin heti koukussa. Tapaamisessa oli kaksi näyttelijää, Jaana Raski ja Erkki Kaarikoski.

The atmosphere at the gathering was really warm. It is always lovely to meet congenial people. Manyof the fans had been watching the program since a very young age. I started at the age of 11 or 12. I watched a few episodes and was immediately hooked, at the meeting there were two of the actors Jaana Raski ja Erkki Kaarikoski at the gathering.  

Jaakkoa esittänyt  Esko Raipia ei valitettavasti päässyt paikalle,
mutta hän vastasi hienosti sähköpostiini. Hänen mielestään tapaaminen oli kunnianosoitus kotimaiselle tv-draamalle.

Unfortunately, Esko Raipia, who played the part of Jaakko in the program was unable to attend but he sent a brilliant response to my email. In his opinion the gathering was a tribute to national TV-drama.
