Joulukadun avajaiset 20.11./ Opening of the Christmas street November 20th.

Eilen  klo 15 se Helsingin joulukausi sitten avattiin ja jouluvalot sytytettiin. Tiesin, että tapahtumalla on pitkät perinteet. Se oli yksi seikka, joka lisäsi sen kiinnostavuutta. Huomasin tapahtuman Facebookista. Muutama ystävä oli menossa sinne, he toimivat myös avustajinani. Yksin en  olisi mennytkään. Ihmisvilinässä eksyy helposti, vaikka sateinen ja kolea keli kuulemma karsikin väkeä.  Ensin ohjelmassa oli kansan- ja joululauluja kansanlauluyhtye Ellun Kamujen johdolla. Sitten oli vahtikoira Veikko laululeikkeineen.  Itse en kummastakaan oikein välittänyt. Tapahtumassa oli kuitenkin myös lapsiperheitä, mukavaa että heidätkin huomioitiin.


Yesterday at 3 pm the Christmas season in Helsinki was opened and Christmas lights were lighted. I knew that the event has long traditions. This was one of the reasons why it was interested in the event. I noticed the event on Facebook. A couple of my friends were going, so they also assisted me there. I wouldn’t have gone alone. It’s easy to get lost in a crowd, though I was told there were fewer people due to the rainy and chilly.  First the program had folk- and Christmas songs by a folk song group Ellun Kamut. Then it was time for guard dog Veikko with his child’s plays.  I didn’t really care for either of them. Still, the event had many families as well, it was nice they were taken into consideration too.
 


Kello 16.00 saapuivat Joulupukki ja kaupunginjohtaja Jussi Pajunen museoraitiovaunulla. Odotin, että pukki olisi jakanut karkkia tai ottanut lapsia syliinsä.  Kaupunginjohtajan tervehdys toi tapahtumaan juhlavuutta. Jouluvalot syttyivät.


At 4 pm, Santa Claus and the mayor of the city arrived with a heritage tram. I thought the Santa would’ve given out candy or held the children.  The mayor’s greeting brought dignity to the event. The Christmas lights were lit.


 Sitten oli  papin puhe, senjälkeen tulivat Hunksit. Heidän esityksensä ei sytyttänyt minua. Sen olisi voinut jättää pois tai he olisivat voineet esintyä joulumusiikki taustalla.


Then it was time for a priest to give a speech, after which the Hunks performed. I didn’t really like it. It could’ve been left out or they could’ve performed with Christmas song in the background.
 



Esitys oli upea  ja tapahtuma hyvä kokemus. Joulufiilistä voi kokea myös sateella. Ja mahtavaa, että ihmiset odottavat yhdessä joulua. Yhteisöllisyyttä tulee ylläpitää ja arvostaa.


The show was fantastic and the event was a good experience. You can have Christmas spirit even if it’s raining. And it’s great that people wait for Christmas together. Community should be maintained and appreciated.
